Outstanding Latin Student 2004:
Richard Hang

This year’s Outstanding Latin Student exemplifies the word “outstanding” in every way. He has maintained an “A” average through five years of Latin and has been a member of the National Junior Classical League Latin Honor Society for the last three years. He served as Latin Club Secretary when he was a freshman and sophomore, and for the last two years he has served as the club’s President. By the vote of his peers, he has designed the Latin Club T-shirt for the last four years.

In 2002, he was among a select group of students from the Commonwealth of Virginia chosen to attend the Governor’s Latin Academy. This year, he has earned a Summa Cum Laude Honorable Mention on the Classical Association of Virginia Latin Tournament and a Bronze Medal on the Medusa Mythology Exam.

All year long, he has also given his time to his peers by serving as a Latin tutor Fridays after school except when he was hospitalized and recovering from surgery. This summer, he will join six other students to represent Park View High School in the National Latin Convention at the University of Richmond. Next fall, this outstanding leader and citizen will attend the University of Virginia where he will continue to focus on the Classics and sciences to enroll in medical school. Please join us in congratulating Richard Hang, the 2003-2004 Outstanding Latin Student.
